Hi Gary S:
<< Anyone remembers why Modern Photography went belly up? >>
It was early in 1990. I never head an official reason, but there was a
recession in 1990 (yikes, how I remember!), the magazine was getting skinny
(less ads), and Ziff-Davis (with Popular Photography) was becoming a magazine
fifedom. They bought out Modern Photography and skimmed off its best editors.
There was also a $$ shift to point and shoots where folks didn't have to
think. So, if you don't think than you probably don't read photography
magazines...
Boy, I got another big laugh tonight watching folks shoot flash pictures of
Hoover Dam in the dark from 1/4 mile away! They need a sign saying "Don't
waste your film" or "This is the most photographed traffic barrier in the new
world."
