Hi, Sal.
In Program mode, you set the minimum allowable aperture with the f-stop
ring on the lens. The camera's exposure wizard (he's a little guy with a
pointy hat, lives inside the film speed knob in the space vacated by the
old mechanical meter movement) then sets both f-stop and shutter speed,
using an f-stop somewhere between the max. aperture of the lens and the
min. aperture that you set.
When using the T-32 flash in Program mode, the camera is a different story:
it seems to go for minimum light expenditure which, since the shutter speed
is always 1/60 sec., this means that you will be shooting at MUCH larger
apertures than you expect, so 'bye 'bye depth of field. I never use my -2S
in Program mode with flash, for this reason.
The shutter is much quieter than an OM-2N's shutter, at least in my
experience. (I won't get into debates on what constitutes a "sexy" shutter
sound; my Bronica EC takes the cake there, and demonstrates my obvious
fetish for big, heavy cameras with noisy, complicated mechanisms! Oops,
I've said too much...)
John P. can tell you about the flash indicator situation.
$250 for ALL THAT??? Either I need to shop where you shop, or you need to
tell us about your negotiating skills!
I have a -2S book, so I can help out with any other questions you may have
about the camera body.
Enjoy your new camera. Regards,
M.

Subject: [OM] OM2S
I just bought an OM2S and have acouple of questions.
How does the program mode work? Do I put the aperture to the highest
setting
(i.e. f32) and it will use what it feels is correct.
Also I think it was brought up previously but is the shutter is alot
noisier
that the OM1/OM4?
Is the green flash indicator mean that the power is derived
from the flash?
I bought the OM2S, a T32 and a winder1 for $250 was this s good price?
Thanks,
Sal
