After nearly 5 months in the shop, my 4-T has still not returned. It
is now at NorTown in Mississauga, where it has been since mid
December. They are apparently the only service centre in Canada with
the proper focus adjusting jig, and were recommended by Carsen, the
Canadian Olympus rep.
I spoke with my dealer who sold me the camera in August yesterday,
and he is quite disgusted with the response of NorTown, who promised
results by mid Feb at the latest. (this was a month ago.) Since he
has again offered me a full refund for the camera, I am ready to take
this option. I would have done this sooner, but in the 5 months since
this started, not a single OM-4 or 4-T has passed shown up which they
could offer in exchange - this gives you an idea how scarce they are
around here. I may still change my mind - it took me over a year to
find this camera, so it's hard to let go.
Although I would really like to find another 4-T, I know the chances
of this are not good, especially for the $450 CDN I paid for this
one. I am also considering a clean OM-2n and an 85/2 or 100/2.8 or
f2, or something along these lines.
So if anyone has any thoughts or options (bodies/lenses) for me to
consider please let me know.
Thanks.
