I would like to ask your ideas on the following.
Some days back somebody (I don't reveal his name yet, but he is a
mailing list 'member') posted an ad in which he said to be looking for
Olympus 250 frame back film canisters. These are rather hard to find.
I knew that a friend of mine might have a few redundant, and I found
out that he was willing to sell them for $80 each. The guy says it is
OK, and that he is glad to have found them.
I buy the canisters from my friend (same price, no profit for me, just
a favour, remember). My friend drives 40 miles to deliver them at my
house (just a friend's favour). I wrap them up (the customer seems to
bit a bit in a hurry, because he wants to photograph car racing in
spring) and have them ready for shipment. I even was planning to send
them out at the moment that he would confirm payment - without waiting
for the money to arrive.
And at this stage it happens that he sends me an email, saying:
>As circumstances would have it, I have the opportunity to purchase
>the magazines ata far lower price here in the US from an different
>party. Were the difference small, I would proceed, but its almost
>$100.
What would you do in my position? And when is a deal formal or solid?
