I was involved in the production of the integrated circuits for the C*n*n
SLR and P/S between 1980 and 1983 and as I recall the AE-1 was produced
about 0.8 million units per year but it was gradually taken over by AE-1P,
which was ramping up to about a million/year. The first generation Sure Shot
was about 8 million units/year average from my vague memory..
This may be the indication of Olympus' strategy switching to the P/S market
from the mid '80s. If the mju-II volume production indeed reached to the
10 million level already, I think it was a good business decision by Olympus.
