I own a Series I 70-210/3.5 in OM mt. It has been a good, reliable lens
for me. From memory, the difference between the earlier and later models
is easiest to tell by filter size. The later ones have a 62mm. The earlier
came with a 67mm.
Personally, my Series I hasn't seen as much use as it should due to its
gigantic size and weight. I would advise going with the 65-200/4 OM. I
have borrowed one several times from a good friend, and unless you need
that last photon (and the Vivitar isn't very sharp at f/3.5), I'd go with
the OM.
